Matthew 14:29-31

Posted on March 31, 2010

"Come," Jesus said. So Peter got out of the boat. He walked on the water toward Jesus. But when Peter saw the wind, he was afraid. He began to sink. He cried out, "Lord! Save me!"  Right away Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "Your faith is so small!" he said. "Why did you doubt me?"

Matthew 14:29-31 (NIRV)

Comment: Drown out fear and doubt through a strong faith in Christ, who came to save. Calm the winds of fear by reaching out to Him in purposeful prayer.

Merced River

If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. -- John 7:37-38 (NIV)

On our visit to Yosemite National Park in May, 2008 we stopped along side the Merced River down in the valley to enjoy a picnic lunch. May is a great time to visit because the crowds have yet to arrive and you still have remnants of winter in the higher elevations. This is one of my all time favorite shots.

Matthew 14:26-27

Posted on March 26, 2010

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, It is a ghost! And they screamed out with fright. But instantly He spoke to them, saying, Take courage! I AM! Stop being afraid!

Matthew 14:26-27 (AMP)

Comment: The more we know Christ the more we trust Him. The storms of fear are silenced because Christ is near.

Matthew 13:22

Others received the seed that fell among the thorns. They are those who hear the message. But then the worries of this life and the false promises of wealth crowd it out. They keep it from producing fruit.

Matthew 13:22 (NIRV)

Comment: Worries over things of the world are a distraction to the word of God. Put our confidence in Him rather than worldly treasures.

Sparrow Feeding

Posted on March 21, 2010

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? -- Matthew 6:26 (NIV)

I was experimenting with my camera when we spotted this sparrow on the back patio. At first we thought it was injured because it didn't fly away and it let us get so close.  I grabbed some bird seed and held my hand out over the planter when he jumped right up on my hand. I slowly lifted the camera up and was able to snap a few shots before he hopped off. He hung around for a few more minutes before flying off.

Matthew 10:29-31

Posted on March 15, 2010

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV)

Comment: No matter what man's opinion of us is, we are valuable in the sight of God, who can silence all fears.
