Matthew 14:26-27

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, It is a ghost! And they screamed out with fright. But instantly He spoke to them, saying, Take courage! I AM! Stop being afraid!

Matthew 14:26-27 (AMP)

Comment: The more we know Christ the more we trust Him. The storms of fear are silenced because Christ is near.

Matthew 13:22

Others received the seed that fell among the thorns. They are those who hear the message. But then the worries of this life and the false promises of wealth crowd it out. They keep it from producing fruit.

Matthew 13:22 (NIRV)

Comment: Worries over things of the world are a distraction to the word of God. Put our confidence in Him rather than worldly treasures.

Sparrow Feeding

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? — Matthew 6:26 (NIV)

I was experimenting with my camera when we spotted this sparrow on the back patio. At first we thought it was injured because it didn’t fly away and it let us get so close. I grabbed some bird seed and held my hand out over the planter when he jumped right up on my hand. I slowly lifted the camera up and was able to snap a few shots before he hopped off. He hung around for a few more minutes before flying off.

Matthew 10:29-31

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV)

Comment: No matter what man’s opinion of us is, we are valuable in the sight of God, who can silence all fears.

Green Maiden Lotus

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. — Psalm 119:130 (NIV)

Green Maiden Lotus plant photographed June 2007 at Columbus, Ohio.

When I see the sun shining on the individual petals of the lotus plant I’m reminded how God is involved in every minute detail of that plant, and in every detail of our own lives. Does it say anything to you?

Matthew 10:28

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can’t kill the soul. Instead, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 10:28 (NIRV)

Comment: The fear of man can be a deceptive trap that draws us into sin. Instead, have a sincere faith in Christ, never be ashamed of our relationship with Him, for those who truly fear God [worship Him] need not fear any man.

Matthew 10:26

So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

Matthew 10:26 (NIV)

Comment: Do not be concerned for the things of this world or from what man can do, but concern yourself with the condition of your soul. We worship a God that no earthly adversity or fear can separate us from.
